Technocamp Winners 2023
On the 13th July 2023 our code club team (Crystal Edwards, Sofia Fricker, Claret John) and their Y12 mentor, Luis Davies, attended the Green Machine Competition final. Technocamps, together with the RAF set a challenge to build and programme a robot prototype to help with recycling. The team (Ecobots) created a robot using Lego Mindstorm kit that sorted recyclable and non-recycleable materials. They faced so many obstacles during the robot development, but they never gave up; their resourcefulness and determination was remarkable.
They used kit that had been won 8 years ago by our very first code club team. Needless to say, the kit is now 'retro', and all the other teams were using the up-to-date Lego Spike kit. Our Ecobots team did a fantastic presentation to the judges for the competition, then built and coded a new robot using borrowed Spike kit, for the 'Live Challenge' task, which they won! They have achieved so much this year; it has been a privilege to see their skills and confidence develop.
