Sixth Form Admissions
We are delighted that you are considering joining our outstanding Sixth Form. Whether you are currently at Archbishop McGrath, or applying from elsewhere, we will do our very best to respond to your individual needs to ensure that you achieve your full potential both academically and personally.
Hopefully, you will find the answers to all of your admissions application questions within these pages but, if not, our staff would be delighted to assist you.
The normal requirements for entry to the Sixth Form at Archbishop McGrath are five GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Maths and English, some subjects including Maths and Sciences require a Grade B or above. However, each application will be considered on an individual basis.
If you are intending to study a subject at A Level that you have not studied at GCSE Level, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability in other relevant subjects.
If you fail to meet these requirements, and there are special circumstances that may have affected your performance, your application will be considered on an individual basis.
Applications from other schools
Students considering in joining us is advised to attend our Sixth Form Open Evening, details of which will be on the website. A tour of the school during the school day can be arranged through appoint with the Head of Sixth Form.
Applicants will be asked to complete ‘Application for transfer from another school form (please view below) along with their Options Form. The Head of Sixth Form will then make contact in order to arrange and informal meeting to discuss choices. Applicants will be expected to bring with them a copy of a school report, interim report or a reference confirming predicted grades. Applicants will then receive a confirmation letter to confirm their place. Followed by a letter explaining the process of enrolment in light of results.
Continuing at Archbishop McGrath
Student and parents or cares will be advised to attend the Sixth Form Open Evening, details of which will be on the website. An interview will be held by the Head of Sixth Form or a member of the Senior Leadership Team with each student to discuss options. Students will be asked to complete their options sheet and a follow up meeting may be held with the Head of Sixth Form to discuss any concerns.
